The second round of the election has begun, with voting for all 230 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh and 70 seats in Chhattisgarh.
The main electoral contest in each of these Hindi heartland states is between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

While the BJP is the current government in Madhya Pradesh, the Congress is attempting to hold onto power in Chhattisgarh.

On December 3, the results of the elections in Telangana, Rajasthan, and Mizoram will be counted, in addition to the votes cast in these two states.

60.52% Voter Turnout Recorded in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections till 3PM

  • A voter turnout of 60.52% was recorded till 3 pm in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections on Friday.
  • The highest voter turnout was recorded in Agar Malwa, with 69.96% of voters exercising their franchise.
  • The lowest voter turnout was recorded in Alirajpur, with 50.66% of voters casting their ballots.
  • The voter turnout in the capital city, Bhopal, was 45.34%.
  • The voter turnout in former Chief Minister and Congress candidate Kamla Nath’s constituency, Chhindwara, was 67.09%.

Voting for the 230 Assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh began at 7 am on Friday. The final voter turnout figures will be released later in the day.

55.31% Voter Turnout Recorded in Chhattisgarh’s Second Phase of Assembly Elections till 3PM

  • A voter turnout of 55.31% was recorded till 3 pm in the second phase of the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections on Friday.
  • The second phase of polling began at 8 am and will conclude at 5 pm.
  • The polling is being held under a thick security blanket of police and paramilitary personnel.
  • In the Naxal-affected Bindranawagarh seat in Gariaband district, voting began at 7 am for security reasons.
