Special 26-Style Robbery: MBVV Cops Nab Kingpin

Mira Bhayandar: In a daring robbery reminiscent of the Bollywood blockbuster “Special 26,” a gang of six men posing as Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officers raided the apartment of a retired Public Works Department (PWD) officer in Navi Mumbai on July 21 and decamped with a booty worth over Rs. 34 lakh in cash, gold, and diamonds.

The mastermind behind the crime, Amit Sanjay Warik (35), was finally arrested on Sunday by the crime detection unit of the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police from his residence in Chandansar, Virar.

According to the police, Warik had assembled a gang of experienced criminals and carefully planned the robbery. On the day of the heist, the gang members, dressed in ACB uniforms and carrying fake ID cards, knocked on the door of the PWD officer’s apartment. When the officer answered the door, they identified themselves as ACB officers and said that they had received a complaint of corruption against him.

The gang members then forced their way into the apartment and began searching the premises. They threatened the officer and his wife with dire consequences if they did not cooperate. The officer and his wife were too scared to resist, and the gang members managed to make off with a large amount of cash, jewelry, and other valuables.

The police launched an investigation into the robbery and quickly identified Warik as the prime suspect. He was arrested on Sunday after a raid on his residence. During interrogation, Warik confessed to the crime and revealed the names of his accomplices. The police have already arrested 11 other members of the gang.

The MBVV police have hailed the arrest of Warik as a major breakthrough in the case. They believe that his arrest will help them to recover the stolen booty and bring the other members of the gang to justice.

The arrest of Amit Sanjay Warik, the kingpin of the Special 26-style robbery gang, has sent shockwaves through the government and law enforcement circles. The crime, which was meticulously planned and executed, has highlighted the vulnerabilities of the system and the need for urgent reforms.

The MBVV police have praised the role of informants in helping them to crack the case. According to the police, they received a tip-off about Warik’s whereabouts from a reliable informant. The police then conducted a raid on Warik’s residence and arrested him without any resistance.

During interrogation, Warik revealed that he had been planning the robbery for several months. He had carefully studied the modus operandi of the ACB and recruited experienced criminals to carry out the heist. The gang members had even procured fake ACB uniforms and ID cards to make their operation more convincing.

Warik’s confession has also shed light on the modus operandi of the gang. He revealed that the gang members would target government officials who had a reputation for being corrupt. They would then pose as ACB officers and raid their homes and offices, threatening them with arrest and prosecution if they did not cooperate. The gang members would then make off with whatever valuables they could find.

The Special 26-style robbery has raised concerns about the security of government officials and the need for stricter vigilance against such crimes. The government has already announced plans to strengthen the ACB and to provide better security to government officials. However, experts believe that more needs to be done to prevent such crimes from happening in the future.

The MBVV police have appealed to the public to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities. They have also urged government officials to take steps to protect themselves from such crimes, such as installing security cameras at their homes and offices and being careful about who they let in.
