PM Modi Flags Off 8 New Trains in Ayodhya, Boosting Connectivity Ahead of Ram Temple Consecration

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch eight new trains from the charming city of Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, to promote pilgrimage tourism and regional connectivity. This historic announcement coincides with the much-awaited big Ram Temple consecration ceremony just a few weeks away, heightening the joyous atmosphere in the area.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to arrive in the temple town on Saturday to inaugurate Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat trains, among other projects, amidst the celebratory atmosphere in Ayodhya and the excitement around the consecration of the magnificent Ram Temple on January 22nd of next year.

A brand-new class of extremely quick passenger trains with the LHB push-pull function is called Amrit Bharat. Coaches on these trains lack air conditioning, though.

There are locos on either end of this train to improve acceleration. More amenities for rail passengers include well-designed seats, better luggage racks, LED lighting, CCTV, public information systems, and mobile charging stations with appropriate holders.

The new Amrit Bharat trains will run as the Malda Town-Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminus (Bengaluru) Amrit Bharat Express and the Darbhanga-Ayodhya-Anand Vihar Terminal Amrit Bharat Express.

Among the eight trains, two belong to the brand-new “Amrit Bharat” category, marking their official debut on the Indian railway network. These trains, designed to offer comfortable and affordable travel experiences, feature upgraded amenities like attractive seats, ample luggage space, mobile charging points, and improved lighting. The first Amrit Bharat Express will connect Ayodhya directly with Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi, while the second will link it with Malda Town in West Bengal.

The remaining six trains belong to the already popular “Vande Bharat Express” category, known for their semi-high-speed capabilities and modern onboard facilities.

These six trains will connect Ayodhya to various key cities across the country, including:

  • Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra in Jammu and Kashmir
  • Amritsar in Punjab
  • Coimbatore and Bangalore Cantt in Karnataka
  • Mangalore and Madgaon in Goa
  • Jalna in Maharashtra
  • Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi

This expansive network of new trains signifies a significant step towards enhancing Ayodhya’s accessibility and positioning it as a major pilgrim destination. Pilgrims from across India can now travel to the holy city in greater comfort and speed, contributing to a rise in religious tourism and a potential boost to the local economy.

To improve the region’s train infrastructure, the prime minister will also dedicate three railway projects totaling ₹ 2300 crore to the country.

The launch of these new trains, alongside the ongoing development of the Ayodhya airport and the revamped railway station, paints a promising picture for the future of Ayodhya. As the city readies itself for the momentous occasion of the Ram Temple consecration, these improved transportation links are poised to play a crucial role in ushering in a new era of spiritual and economic prosperity for the region.

The projects include the third line between Rooma Chakeri and Chanderi, the Jaunpur-Tulsi Nagar, Akbarpur-Ayodhya, Sohawal-Patranga, and Safdarganj-Rasauli parts of the Jaunpur-Ayodhya-Barabanki doubling project, and the Malhaur-Daliganj railway section’s doubling and electrification project.

At a cost of around ₹ 240 crore, PM Modi is scheduled to launch Phase I of the renovated Ayodhya Railway Station, also known as Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station.

The three-story railway station building has all the amenities of a modern facility, including waiting areas, cloakrooms, escalators, food plazas, stores for puja supplies, and lifts. The station will have a “green station building” with IGBC certification and be “accessible for all.”

Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham, the recently constructed Ayodhya airport, will also be officially opened by PM Modi.

The construction of the first phase of the cutting-edge airport has cost more than ₹ 1450 crore.

The 6,500 square meter airport terminal building would be able to accommodate roughly 10 lakh people a year.

The planned Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya’s temple architecture is depicted on the terminal building’s front. The terminal building’s inside is embellished with murals, paintings, and local artwork that illustrates Bhagwan Shri Ram’s life.

To achieve GRIHA 5-star ratings, the Ayodhya Airport terminal building is also outfitted with several sustainable features, including an insulated roofing system, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, fountain-filled landscaping, a water treatment plant, a sewage treatment plant, a solar power plant, and many more.

The airport will increase the area’s connectivity, which will stimulate commerce and tourism while creating new job opportunities.
