The renowned actor and founder of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) party, Vijayakanth, breathed his last today at the age of 71. Popularly known as Captain among his fans, Vijayakanth passed away in Chennai, leaving behind a rich legacy in both film and politics.

Vijayakanth Death: On Thursday, the DMDK Chief and superstar from South India passed away. He was discovered to be corona-positive, according to reports. He was being supported on a ventilator in a private hospital in Chennai because he was having breathing difficulties. Here, undergoing therapy, he passed away. His passing has also been met with grief by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He used to be addressed with love as Captain

Superstar Vijayakanth of Tamil Nadu acted in over 154 films before transitioning into politics. In 2005, he established the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam party. Pneumonia was the reason for his hospital admission on Tuesday. He passed away while receiving care. Vijay Kant, the founder of DMDK, was affectionately known as Captain. His death was announced in a medical bulletin published by the hospital.
