Dilshan Madushanka took three wickets for Sri Lanka. Earlier, Sri Lanka’s openers Pathum Nissanka (61), and Kusal Perera (78), contributed 125 runs in 22 overs, but the team collapsed, losing nine wickets for 53 runs. Adam Zampa, a leg-spinner, led the way with four wickets, while Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc both took two.

Sent into bat, Sri Lanka were bundled out for 209 in 43.3 overs, with Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa picking up three wickets each. Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell also chipped in with two wickets apiece.

Australia got off to a flying start in the chase, with David Warner and Mitchell Marsh scoring 15 runs in the first over. However, both batsmen were dismissed in quick succession, leaving Australia at 29/2.

Marnus Labuschagne and Josh Inglis then steadied the ship with a 77-run partnership for the third wicket. Labuschagne was eventually dismissed for 40, but Inglis continued to play positively and reached his fifty in just 51 balls.

Inglis was eventually dismissed for 58, but Marcus Stoinis and Glen Maxwell ensured that Australia reached the target without any further hiccups. Stoinis hit the winning runs in the 35th over to seal a comfortable victory for Australia.
