Chennai Super Kings Retained & Released Players For IPL 2024

December 19 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai is when the IPL 2024 auction is projected to happen. A budget of Rs 100 crore would be allotted to each team, up from Rs 95 crore the year before.

A massive auction is anticipated for the next year, as this will be the third and last year of each player’s three-year contract.

Chennai Super Kings Prepare for IPL 2024 Auction with Strategic Player Decisions

As the defending IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) boasts a well-established and formidable squad. However, in anticipation of the upcoming IPL 2024 mini-auction, the franchise must carefully consider strategic player retention and release decisions to ensure a successful future. While fans eagerly await the fate of CSK captain and veteran Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the team’s management and coaching staff are diligently finalizing the list of retained and released players ahead of the November 26 deadline.

CSK’s historical approach suggests that the franchise will retain the majority of its players while releasing those whose future availability is uncertain due to schedule conflicts or injury concerns. The official list of released and retained players was announced on the retention day.

Veteran Ambati Rayudu Retires, Stokes Opts Out for Workload Management

Amidst the team’s preparations, IPL veteran Ambati Rayudu, one of the league’s most decorated players, announced his retirement following CSK’s championship victory last year. Additionally, England star all-rounder Ben Stokes made the difficult decision to opt out of the upcoming IPL season to prioritize his workload management and fitness.

Stokes, who had been battling knee issues since early 2022, had recently unretired from ODIs to participate in the recently concluded World Cup. Acknowledging the need to address his persistent knee concerns, Stokes decided to undergo much-needed knee surgery. While the franchise expressed their support for his decision to remain unavailable for the season, CSK’s management considered releasing him ahead of the auction.
