India defeated Nepal on Monday using the Duckworth/Lewis technique and won by 10 wickets to advance to the Asia Cup’s Super 4 round. Chasing a revised goal of 145 in 23 overs, India was able to complete the task with 17 balls remaining thanks to half-centuries by skipper Rohit Sharma (74 not out) and Shubman Gill (67 not out). India required 20.1 overs to reach 147 for no loss.

India cruised to a convincing 10-wicket win over Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023 on Monday, thanks to a brilliant batting display from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.

India opted to field first after winning the toss, and Nepal got off to a good start with openers Aasif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel putting on 65 runs for the first wicket.

However, the Indian bowlers struck back in the middle overs, dismissing Nepal for 230 in 48.2 overs.

Mohammed Siraj & Ravindra Jadeja were the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets, while Shami, Pandya and Shardul Thakur took 1 wicket each.

In reply, India made light work of the chase, reaching 147-0 in just 20.1  overs.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill scored unbeaten half-centuries, putting on 147 runs for the opening wicket.

With this win, India have qualified for the Super 4s of the Asia Cup. They will next face Pakistan on Thursday.

  • Rohit Sharma scored 74 runs off 59 balls, including 6 fours and 5 sixes.
  • Shubman Gill scored 67 runs off 62 balls, including 8 fours and 1 six.
  • Mohammed Siraj & Ravindra Jadeja took 3 wickets each.
  • Shami, Pandya and Shardul Thakur took 1 wicket each.
  • Nepal’s highest scorer was Aasif Sheikh with 58 runs.

The win was a much-needed one for India after their first match against Pakistan was washed out due to rain.

The Indian team will be looking to build on this momentum and make it to the final of the Asia Cup.

The Super 4s stage of the tournament will be played in a round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the final.

India are in Group B along with Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. The top two teams from this group will qualify for the final.

The final of the Asia Cup will be played on September 15 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
