IPL 2024: Full List of Retained and Released Players
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 player retention window has closed, with all 10 franchises finalizing their squads ahead of the upcoming auction. A total of 173 players were retained by the franchises, while the remaining players will be available for bidding at the auction.
On Sunday, November 26, teams were in action on the day of the retention deadline. Gujarat Titans retained Hardik Pandya, while Mumbai Indians released Jofra Archer. The trading window is open until December 12 and the IPL auction is scheduled for December 19 in the United Arab Emirates.
A total of eighty-five players were released from their respective franchises on the day of the IPL 2024 retention deadline. The Gujarat Titans, an Ahmedabad-based side, kept star all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, putting an end to rumors that he may be traded to the Mumbai Indians, which was the biggest news of the day.

Furthermore, as the player trade window is still open until one week prior to the IPL 2024 auction, any possible team swaps could still happen. The final team lineups for what promises to be another intense season of the most-watched cricket league in the world will be revealed during the auction, which is set for December 19 in the United Arab Emirates.
The Delhi Capitals have decided to hold onto Rishabh Pant for the next Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. The Delhi Capitals’ director of cricket, Sourav Ganguly, had earlier in the month said that the ace batsman-wicketkeeper will be fit to play in the upcoming season. This confirmation of Pant’s retention follows his statement.
Pant sustained multiple injuries in a serious car accident that occurred in December 2022. He recovered completely after receiving intensive care and therapy.
Owing to persistent injury worries, the Mumbai Indians dropped a number of players of note, including England pacer Jofra Archer. Both former England captain Joe Root and all-rounder Ben Stokes chose not to play in the IPL 2024 season in order to better manage their workloads.
Harry Brook, an England batter, was released by SunRisers Hyderabad, which was unexpected considering his ability and the high price of Rs 13.25 crore that was paid for him at the previous auction. Brook was probably released because of his difficulties in the 2023 Indian Premier League and the team’s desire to change up the batting lineup.
On the other hand, Punjab Kings kept Sam Curran. The Mumbai Indians kept Cameron Green, despite contradictory reports.
