Rizwan and Shakeel shine with half-centuries

Muhammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel played crucial half-centuries to help Pakistan recover from a shaky start and post a competitive total of 286 in their opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against the Netherlands on Friday.

Pakistan lost three early wickets, but Rizwan and Shakeel came together to put on a 120-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Rizwan scored 68 runs off 81 balls, while Shakeel made 68 runs off 89 balls.

Both batsmen played cautiously at first, but they gradually opened up and started to score more freely. They hit some elegant boundaries and rotated the strike well, putting the pressure back on the Dutch bowlers.

Rizwan was dismissed in the 38th over, but Shakeel continued to bat well and reached his half-century in the 45th over. He was eventually dismissed in the 49th over, but his innings helped Pakistan post a respectable total.

Rizwan and Shakeel’s half-centuries were crucial for Pakistan, as they helped them recover from a difficult position and post a total that was good enough to defend.

Their partnership was also a testament to their skills and temperament as batsmen. Both batsmen are known for their ability to play long innings and build partnerships, and they showed those qualities once again in their match-winning knocks against the Netherlands.
